LinkFest 5 – Tools For Productivity and Pointlessness

April 20, 2007
  • 43things.com is a list-bot that helps you keep track of your goals…everything from losing weight to “be perfect” (a top goal of its thousands of registered users). What makes 43things useful is the fact that you can tell it to e-mail you reminders/encouragers daily/weekly/monthly, as well as comiserate with others who have the same goal. “Be Like Christ” isn’t very up there on the list, but that can change.
  • I’m sure most of you don’t devote bookshelf space for Historical Romance Novels, but maybe you should — at least for this lady who happens to be my prolific Grandma. My wife tells me that they’re very good reads. With over 30 titles to choose from, everyone wins.
  • Sloganizer gets you out of a pinch when you need a slogan and you need one NOW. For example, check out what it generated for RadBlog in less than 30 seconds:

    RadBlog brings out the best.

    RadBlog – Your personal entertainer.

    I lost weight with RadBlog.

  • Church Sign Generator is almost as handy — but be careful. It will print anything. Ah-nuh-thi-ing-uh.

  • Linkfest 4 – Everybody’s Workin’ for the Weekend

    March 9, 2007
  • Check out USA Today’s story on America’s RQ (Religion Quotient). It turns out that 50% of High School Seniors polled believe that Sodom and Gomorrah… were married. Hmm… it just got awkward.
  • How much should I weigh? Find out here
  • So you want to cancel your Cell Phone Service? Man, I wish I had seen this before I paid for the last two months of service.
  • Free Starbucks? Yup. Thursday, March 15th. Be there. Be ready to stand in line.
  • DriveConference ‘06 @ NorthPoint videos are available — for free — and you don’t stand in line. Videos here.
  • Life Cycle of a Church. Interesting. Taking healthy risks is a critical component of keeping the church alive and out of management mode.
  • If you’re looking to relocate to Metro Toledo (and who isn’t?), we’ve already got the perfect place for you to live.

  • Linkfest 2 – For Planners, Leaders, Bored among us…

    February 24, 2007

    Linkfest. Celebrating what’s there.

  • Planning Center Online is a web-based service planner that we’re currently experimenting with. Anything to get away from Microsoft Word based Worship orders. So far it’s working pretty well. We’ll see what it looks like when we get around to Easter.
  • Speaking of Easter, we are now in the season of Lent which began on 2/21/07 – Ash Wednesday. We tend to see Easter as the “big Sunday” (which it is) but tend to miss the crucial 40 days before. Check out Worship Planning Ideas For Lent and this Individual Spiritual Disciplines guide for some perspective and perhaps a new idea or two. Protestants are starting to get an itch for the ash.
  • The title of Executive Pastor in church leadership may not be the title that some emergent organizations prefer, but no one can doubt the significance of the administrative role in ministry. I came across this indicator to show where you lean as a ministry leader/facilitator. I thought it was interesting…
  • It looks like the concept of Worship Evangelism is being looked at differently by the author.
  • Dave Barry always has something worth clicking. And sometimes worth not clicking. There. Disclaimer placed!
  • Again with the iPhone! I love it, but 99% of the world agrees…at $500 it’s just too expensive. It took a study to prove this? Nevertheless, Cingular is dancing on Verizon’s grave.

  • Crayon Factory!

    February 16, 2007

crayons3_1751.jpgI found it… I’ve been looking for this crayon factory video for years. If you were a child (or even a parent) in the 80’s, you’ll remember. There are two versions. The Sesame Street featurette (complete with cool 80’s Rock Anthem Instrumental) here:
    How Crayons Are Made

…and the Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood Factory Tour here:

    For Nostalga!

Will it Blend? That’s the question…

    Here’s a great way to:

  • 1. Get rid of that old iPod
  • 2. Scare your wife
  • 3. Waste time
  • the death of an iPod
